Frequently Asked Questions

Do you do weddings outside of Brisbane?

Of course! From the Sunshine Coast, to Byron Bay and everywhere in between we are always happy to travel and work anywhere, at the most beautiful venues around!

Is there a minimum spend?

We have a minimum spend of $5,000+GST on florals/styling for weddings. This is to ensure we are able to consistently deliver a high quality standard and service to our all of our couples, as we exclusively book your wedding day so you are our main focus.

How does your booking process work?

We’ve made it easy for you! Simply fill out our enquiry form online and from there we will let you know if your date is available and you’ll receive our wedding questionnaire so we can get to know what’s on your wedding wish list.

When you’ve filled in the questionnaire, we will begin working on your personalised quote for you. Once you receive your quote, you're welcome to add, alter or remove designs on the quote until you are ready to book in. To secure your booking with us, we just require a 30% non-refundable deposit and a signed copy of our contract. When we receive this, we will send through a booking confirmation, securing your date with us - how exciting!

How much do wedding flowers cost?

No two weddings are the same and pricing really depends on the scope of work, as well as how many elements are included in your overall designs. We’re always happy to make suggestions on where you can get the most impact with your budget and find most of our couples spend on average between $7,000-$10,000 for full florals and styling.

Do you only do florals? Can you help with styling elements?

At Friends with Flora, we offer more than just flowers for your beautiful day. We specialise in creating cohesive, impactful spaces and have a carefully curated range of inventory to elevate your space and wow your guests!

Here is what we offer:

  • Table runners + fabrics for draping (for ceremony + reception features) – chiffon, cheesecloth, tulle

  • Flora the Flower Truck – a fun addition to any wedding and an FWF exclusive!

  • Vases + Vessels – compotes, bud vases, stacked vases, glass vases, ceramic bowls (our range is always growing!)

  • Travertine stone pieces

  • Petal toss station + signage

  • Structures + Plinths – pillar frames, textural white plinths, flower cloud stands, etc.

Our range is always growing, ensuring we have beautiful elements that are the perfect addition to your designs. We can also coordinate larger elements like furniture through our community of beautiful vendors that we work closely with the source any elements.

What is the ‘Wedding Production’ section on the quote?

The Wedding Production section is us! Most of the weddings we work on, we spend anywhere from 40 hours - 85+ hours (depending on the scope of the project) creating and designing for, and that’s just the few days before and after your wedding!

It also includes unlimited email and zoom access to us in the lead up to your wedding, as well as prepping, sourcing and ordering all florals and styling products needed for your special day. Also our expertise and experience, the design time, creating the florals, travel time to and from the venue/your accommodation for bouquet delivery, and installing your beautiful styling and florals on the day.

From there, we stay on until the end of your ceremony to move your ceremony feature into the reception space and do final tweaks. At the end of the night we come back to pack down all items we provide and will always bundle up any florals still in good condition for you to take home the next day. It also includes the cleaning of all hire items and disposal of waste from the items we provide for the wedding as well.

What happens after I pay my deposit?

We are only an email or phone call away if you have any questions we can help with. Generally, we will begin to fine tune all the little details 6-8 weeks prior to your wedding and we’ll send out a questionnaire so we can gather all the details from flower preferences to colour palettes, delivery addresses to floor plans. You’re also welcome to make any last additions to your order during this time when we lock in final details.

We’ll then work on a mood board including floral selection and can organise a call to go through the details together, so your vision for the day is clear. From here, we begin reaching out to your venue and other vendors as well to ensure a smooth process on the big day!

Can I make any changes to my order once I’ve booked?

You are welcome to make any additions to your order with us after booking, however no more than 10% can be deducted from the quote agreed upon in your contract. Changes can be made to your order up until 4 weeks prior to your wedding when your final balance is due, as this is when we place orders for your beautiful flowers and styling elements.

Do I get to choose what flowers you use?

As we are working with a seasonal product, we aren't able to make any guarantees on specific flowers, although if you have something in mind, we will always try our best to source it or an equally beautiful alternative. We encourage our couples to focus on an overall aesthetic, and how they want the day to feel, rather than getting locked down into specific flower choices. This way, as the experts, we can select the best florals of the season to bring to life your chosen colour palette and style.

Can you re-purpose my ceremony flowers?

One of our favourite florals to design are ceremony features that can be used again in your reception space! We always design with this in mind and will always detail in your quote where we are able to re-use elements. Our team will stay on site so that we can flip your beautiful ceremony florals into the reception space and get the most out of your flowers, while you relax and celebrate with friends and family!

Sometimes there are certain structures that we just aren’t able to relocate (like existing arbours at your venue) and we always let you know so that we can suggest alternatives if you love the idea of multi purpose florals like we do.

What happens to the flowers after my wedding?

You're welcome to take home any florals from your wedding (excluding our vessels/vases/mechanics) including your bouquets, any centrepieces, and we can bundle florals in good condition from your ceremony feature as well. Please note, we will leave these at your venue after bump out, for your collection so please be sure to let your venue know in advance if you will be collecting the next day.

How do you reduce your environmental impact?

It’s no secret that while extremely useful, floral foam contributes to the growing plastic pollution problem. Not only this, but it is super bad for our health as it contains carcinogens. At Friends with Flora, we’re committed to creating sustainable designs and reducing our reliance on floral foam by using foam free techniques. We’ve invested in beautiful ceramic vessels and vases, and structures to be able to create designs using re-using chicken wire and water vials to keep our florals fresh.

As we build into our beautiful inventory of vessels, vases and structures, we offer to come back at the end of the night to bundle up florals still in good condition for our lovely couples to enjoy! You’re welcome to take home any florals excluding our vessels, vases and other inventory items.

What is bump in and bump out?

Bump in is where we bring all of the beautiful florals and styling items to your venue to set up. We usually coordinate directly with your venue about these timings to ensure we have enough time to floralise your space! Bump out is where we pack down all the items we have provided and bundle up florals out of our vessels, vases and structures for you and your guests to take home. This usually happens on the night of your wedding or first thing the next morning, depending on your venue’s requirements.

Just a friendly reminder, if there is a short bump in or bump out time given by your venue, we may need to hire additional staff or adjust your designs to ensure a smooth and timely set up and pack down.
